What is Lock My PC
Lock My PC is an easy in use and compact tool for
quick computer lock when you leave it unattended.
What does computer lock mean?
Computer lock is:
Keyboard lock - The program locks keyboard, so Ctrl+Alt+Del, Alt+Tab...
are disabled;
Mouse lock - The program locks mouse to limit mouse cursor position.
Screen lock - all the connected monitors goes blank or display a
lock screen logo.
What system do I need to run Lock My PC?
Lock My PC works in Windows 98/ME and Windows 2000/XP. It is also
working with Windows 95 but we cease testing it under this operation
system. You should have Windows administrative privileges to install
and run Lock My PC for the first time.
I use Windows XP and can lock PC with a simple keystroke. Why should
I use your PC lock software?
Windows "Lock Computer" command locks a computer safely,
but anyone who has Windows Administrator's privileges may unlock
your computer. Such unlock will force to close your session (all
unsaved changes will be lost).
When you lock computer with Lock My PC, no any Windows Administrator's
password will unlock your computer.
The other favor of Lock My PC is an option allowing you to easy
check if anyone tried to unlock your computer -- it's not so easy
and handy to obtain a similar functionality from Windows.
Is it possible to share Lock My PC by several users?
Yes, Lock My PC is designed for multiuser environment.
You should be aware that Lock My PC has 2 kinds of passwords. There
are user's passwords and administrator's password. Each Windows
user may have its own Lock My PC password. Administrator's password
is the only password and it doesn't depend on the logged on user.
Administrator's password is optional but it is highly recommended
to assign it (Lock My PC prompts to enter this password at first
run). If a user locks the PC, this PC can be unlocked either by
the password of this user or by the Administrator's password (if
it has been assigned). Please refer to Lock My PC Administrative
area help for extra information.
I have changed my password but the system can be unlocked by my
old password as well. What's happening?
Apparently you have changed your user's password. Your administrator's
password still unlocks the system. To change the administrator's
password please run Lock My PC administrative area.
My computer is locked at startup when I log on. But it wouldn't
lock when the other users log on. I want it to be locked anyway.
Just enter Lock My PC administrative area and check "Alway
lock computer at startup" option.
How can I enter Lock My PC administrative area?
To enter Lock My PC Administrative Area please use Start/Programs/Lock
My PC/Lock My PC Administrative Area path or run Lock My PC program
file with "/a" command line parameter (C:\Program Files\LMPC\lockpc
/a). The program will prompt you to enter Lock My PC administrator
password you have specified when install. If you enter a correct
administrator password "Administrative Area" dialog will
appear.
I want to use my own lock screen. How can I do this?
You should have an image of BMP, JPG or GIF format. Your picture
should not exceed size 560 (width) X 400 (Height) pixels. You may
copy this picture into any place on your PC (we recommend you to
use LockScreens subfolder of Lock My PC program folder). Then open
Lock My PC settings and specify your image file name in the related
edit line.
Is it possible to lock computer automatically when it is idle?
Yes! You may lock PC automatically. Open Lock My PC settings dialog,
check Lock computer after XX minute(s) of inactivity and specify
idle time.
