I guess Event Log Explorer has gone into the abandonware category:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abandonware
No attempt to provide an update after the last malware detection has put it in this category IMHO. _________________ E5200 2.5GHZ, 4GB RAM, 160GB HD, Windows 7 64bit, avast! V5 Free, IE8 with Finjan SecureBrowsing,

Microsoft Security Essentials still reporting the zip file as malware | Quote: | Category: Virus
Description: This program is dangerous and replicates by infecting other files.
Recommendation: Remove this software immediately.
Microsoft Security Essentials detected programs that may compromise your privacy or damage your computer. You can still access the files that these programs use without removing them (not recommended). To access these files, select the 'Allow' action and click 'Apply actions'. It's too strange
VirusTotal reports no problem for Security Essentials:
http://www.virustotal.com/analisis/cf48eb3d93dfc0dadffc661db85221770aafd7b241dbc7207dfa08382bc3da57-1252227408
Unfortunately Security Essentials is not available in our region at the time (it's for US, Israel and China only).
Can you double check that it reports the problem for the latest version of the program (3.1.3.615). If so, could you please send false-positive report and notify us.
Event Log Explorer is definitely not the abandonware.
As you can see, we updated the program immediately after antivirus alert.
A new release will load millions of records without memory consumption and it will come soon. |

I received Microsoft Security Essentials from Softpedia:
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Antivirus/Microsoft-Security-Essentials.shtml
The latest application and database is available through its update function which I see is:
Definitions created on: 9/6/2009 at 2:29 AM
Virus definitions version: 1.65.450.0
Spyware definitions version: 1.65.450
Available from:
http://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/Definitions/ADL.aspx
I will send a false-positive report.
Looking forward to the new release. _________________ E5200 2.5GHZ, 4GB RAM, 160GB HD, Windows 7 64bit, avast! V5 Free, IE8 with Finjan SecureBrowsing,

Thank you.
I successfully downloaded MSE from Softpedia and updated the virus bases:
Virus definitions version: 1.65.450.0
Spyware definitions version: 1.65.450
But it doesn't show any problems with the program.
MSE is still beta, may be it cached information about the previous version. |

I just updated MSE to 1.65.457 and tried to download the elex.zip file from http://www.eventlogxp.com using DOWNLOAD NOW and I still get the warning when I try to Save the elex.zip file so I sent a false positive report to Microsoft.
I told MSE to ignore the warning and saved the elex.zip file then extracted the setup application then ran the setup application and it installed fine indicating Version 3.1 (Build 3.1.3.615) then I ran MSE Quick scan and this time it did not detect and remove Event Log Explorer like last time.
I hope this makes sense and I could post screen captures of what I see if you like.
This is on my Windows 7 system and I have an XP Pro system that I can try the same process as it was failing the download the same way. _________________ E5200 2.5GHZ, 4GB RAM, 160GB HD, Windows 7 64bit, avast! V5 Free, IE8 with Finjan SecureBrowsing,

I just tried the same process on my XP Pro system and saw the same results.
I now have Event Log Explorer Version 3.1 (Build 3.1.3.615) running on both systems with no problem like before and when I get access to the XP Home system I will try the same process. _________________ E5200 2.5GHZ, 4GB RAM, 160GB HD, Windows 7 64bit, avast! Could you try to download it again?
If the MSE warns about virus, just send the screenshot to info@fspro.net |

Thank you.
We finally managed to reproduce the problem and reported to Microsoft.
It's strange but the problem was reproduced only on one of our PC (although SmartScreen Filter was enabled everywhere).
Anyway, we will appreciate if Event Log Explorer users click "Report that this download is safe" link. |

I am happy you were able to reproduce the failure.
I was confused and thought it was MSE but it was IE SmartScreen Filter that was reporting the bad download file.
I have been using "Report that this download is safe" whenever I had the situation.
I hope you understood my last email I returned to you. _________________ E5200 2.5GHZ, 4GB RAM, 160GB HD, Windows 7 64bit, avast! V5 Free, IE8 with Finjan SecureBrowsing,
