Hi,
I'm playing around with the colour coding feature within Event Log Explorer. As well as filtering files. So I'm looking at writing something that will generate the XML based upon data pulled from a database.
Anyhow the feature I would really like is for Event Log Explorer to be able to have the option to auto load a filter or a colour colding file. At the moment, i can create the file, but it takes quite a few clicks to load up the filter or file and it would be nice if there was an option to do it automatically. You could even do smarts where perhaps you specify a directory, and then if one filter/coding file is there it would use it, otherwise if there is more than one, it would list them so you just basically get a prompt for which filter file or which colour coding file to use after you've just opened the event log.
My use case is we are a product development organisation and would like it make it easier for customer support specialists to spot issues. So having the filtering/colour coding happening 'automatically' allows us to ensure best practise event log analysis by them. |

| Any updates on this? It's a pain to have to reload that file every time you open an event log. |

Did you try the latest beta?
You can load color coding automatically.
And we enhanced log loading options, so you can prefilter by event id. |

Hi,
Yep I have the beta now and the colour coding is working just great.
Can I ask about the event log feature. Why did you implement it like that rather than having the option of a default filter just like the colour coding file. That's how I expected the feature. |
